A Boeing 747 aircraft brilliant by Qatar will be used as a upcoming Air Force One for US President Donald Trump, according to the US protection department. In a statement released on Wednesday, Penntagon spokesman Sean Parnell stated that the aircraft was accepted “in comply with all national rules and regulations.” The plane is currently being evaluated for security improvements in order to satisfy national transportation requirements. The aircraft, which is thought to be worth$ 200 million, needs significant modifications before it can safely carry the president, according to The New York Times. Any human aircraft will require considerable modifications, according to Air Force Secretary Troy Meink during his Senate testimony. Senator Tammy Duckworth warned that updates made while moving quickly could have the potential to bypass crucial safety methods like those for missile defense systems and shielding against nuclear electric pulse. Additionally, the problem has sparked a constitutional argument. According to AFP, the Wages Section of the US Constitution forbids officials from accepting gifts from foreigners. The Pentagon claims that the popularity followed legal guidelines, but critics contend that allowing a jet with a foreign donor for national use is against fundamental principles. Trump has reacted to the condemnation. He continued,” I would never be one to turn down that kind of an offer,” adding,” It’s a great gesture.” I mean, I may state “no,” but I’m a moron. Senate Democrats are reportedly attempting to halt the use of the aircraft. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer introduced the Political Airlift Security Act, which would forbid the use of taxpayer money to upgrade any aircraft that had originally been owned by a foreign authorities. According to Schumer,” Not only would it get billion, but there’s absolutely no number of modifications that can guarantee it will be secure,” according to AFP. Trump defended the move by saying,” They are giving the United States Air Force a jet,” according to AP during a subsequent Oval Office meeting with the president of South Africa. Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the prime minister of Qatar, claimed that the present was intended to sway Trump and that it would save taxpayer funds. According to The New York Times, he claimed that “it’s a two-way relationship.” Despite some Republican support, some GOP lawmakers have raised concerns about safety hazards and the benefits of accepting such a product from a foreign power.” Something we provide… it’s out of appreciation for this relationship.” The plane’s future as Air Force One is still in question due to seven-figure retrofitting costs and growing bipartisan scrutiny.
