Trump 'PUNISHES' Harvard Again; 7,000 Foreign Students Face Deportation | 'Privilege, Not Right'

The administration of US President Donald Trump has removed Harvard University’s ability to accept foreign students as a new stage in its ongoing dispute with the institution. The government has advised hundreds of existing international students at Harvard to move to other universities or lose their constitutional status while living in the country. According to Associated Press, Harvard currently enrolls almost 6,800 foreign students, the majority of whom are graduates. Many of these kids now need to make a decision immediately. The US department of homeland security ( DHS) made the announcement on Thursday. Kristi Noem, the secretary of homeland security, claimed the decision was made because Harvard refused to fully comply with requests for information about its international students. Noem accused Harvard of “perpetuating an uncomfortable school environment that is unfriendly to Jewish students, promotes pro-Hamas sympathies, and employs racist’diversity, capital, and addition” policies in a text.

The Trump presidency forbids Harvard from accepting foreign students.

If the government be able to regulate the admission of foreign students at universities?

International students are permitted to enter the US government, but the US government has other large power. The Department of Homeland Security ( DHS) maintains a system that manages and monitors the enrollment of tens of thousands of foreign students studying in the US at any given time. Colleges and universities must have government certification in order to use the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System ( SEVIS ). The Trump presidency has used this necessity to justify its actions against Harvard. Harvard’s documentation to access SEVIS has been instantly revoked by DHS. The university is now unable to add foreign students to the collection as a result. Ironically, many of the students who were affected may still be on appropriate visas, but without Harvard’s permission, the university cannot formally update their membership status. The government’s efforts to persuade Harvard to follow President Trump’s plan recommendations have significantly increased. Harvard has responded, claiming that the action is unconstitutional and that it violates the university’s research objectives. What effects does the choice have on Harvard and its foreign students? Who is allowed into the US state has control over the country. Which schools are covered by the Student Exchange and Visitor Program, which enables schools to accept international students and challenge the necessary paperwork for them to apply for study visa. DHS announced on Thursday that it would drop Harvard from this software. This semester, individuals who are finishing their degree may still be able to graduate. Noem did state that the change may be effective for the school season 2025–2026. The School of 2025 at Harvard is scheduled to turn in the following week. All foreign pupils at Harvard would be in limbo as a result of Harvard’s SEVIS dismissal. The students had en masse be deported right away, unless they were transferred to another institution or unless a court intervened to stop Homeland Security from terminating their employment. Students who opt not to engage abroad would be in violation of their reputation and subject to removal. According to Noem, students who have not yet received their degree will need to move to a different school in order to maintain their lawful status in the US. If the government decides to change its course of action or a judge blocks the actions, new foreign students who intend to enroll at Harvard in the fall may not be able to participate. Noem claimed that if Harvard adheres to a list of demands within 72 hours, it can get its reputation back. Those include providing international students with administrative data, as well as any audio or video tapes of protests. Prior to now, Harvard had not provided these documents. The university announced on Thursday that it is assisting the damaged individuals. Unprecedented decisionWhile the government has previously removed institutions from the Student Exchange and Visitor Program, those situations typically involved operational issues, such as staff shortages or staff shortages. ” I’ve never seen it revoked for any purpose besides the operational problems listed in the statute,” she said. The American Council on Education’s Sarah Spreitzer, vice president of state ties, was quoted as saying by the news agency Associated Press in April as saying:” This is extraordinary.” Federal authorities have since reduce funding for Harvard’s research, which has had an impact on numerous instructors projects. Harvard has filed a petition to put an end to the offer freeze in response. The state first received a warning in April that Harvard does no longer be able to welcome foreign students. Additionally, President Trump has stated that Harvard does lose its tax-exempt status, which could have an impact on its fundraising efforts because some people donate to tax-exempt organizations in exchange for tax benefits.
