Herlyn Barrientos was upset when she ran into a fellow group member in the produce section of his neighborhood grocery store.

Barrientos was a burly man known for his brutal murders, MS-13, a party renowned for violent killings, with tats inked on his head and face. The Honduran national, allegedly referred to as” Doctorazo,” provided meth to MS-13 members in Los Angeles, who sold the drug and cut the imprisoned leader.

In 2023, Barrientos was accused of medicine trafficking and made the decision to engage with the FBI. Barrientos, 47, returned to South Los Angeles after a prosecutor approved his release from jail.

Federal prosecutors announced on Friday that three alleged MS-13 people are accused of murdering Barrientos at the behest of group leaders.

The FBI presently questions Barrientos ‘ status as an agent because it was supposed to remain secret, but the deal was now. Barrientos was still living in his aged town at the time of his death on February 18.

A spokesperson for the FBI declined to comment.

According to the handler’s oath, Barrientos called an FBI agent just before he died to review seeing a guy with a weapon. The broker claimed that Barrientos had spoken to him while he was shot dead.

The outcome of Barrientos ‘ drug trafficking case, according to Michael Crain, an attorney who represented him. Crain declined to comment more.

Information in the affidavit stated that Barrientos was killed because he was cooperating, according to the petition.

The head of Barrientos ‘ MS-13 group, who claimed people higher up in the group had given him directions, was called by another applicant working for the FBI after his dying.” They told me I had to clean out my wastes, you understand”?

According to the petition, he said,” That job you may say no to.”

According to Joseph Carelli, an FBI special agent, Barrientos drove to a Superior Grocers on Figueroa and 91st sidewalks around 7 p.m. on his final day of existence, according to an oath.

Barrientos was followed into the parking lot by a dark SUV. Three gentlemen stepped out of the car and entered the store. They appeared to be greeting Barrientos in the produce section, Carelli wrote, citing images from keep cameras.

Roberto Carlos Aguilar, one of the three gentlemen, walked aside and began calling. According to a spokeswoman for the U.S. prosecutor’s office in Los Angeles, Aguilar is a Peruvian regional who illegally entered the country.

Carelli reported that Aguilar and Barrientos had a 30-minute conversation in the food store’s parking lot. Aguilar received two calls that went to voice at the time. According to Carelli and the official for the U.S. attorney’s office, one of the men was Dennis Anaya Urias, a recognized permanent resident of the United States and a reputed part of MS-13’s Bagos group.

According to Carelli, Barrientos was even a member of the Bagos group, a set of MS-13 that is based in the Mid-City area.

According to the broker, T-Mobile records showed that Urias ‘ cellphone was traveling from Koreatown to the Superior Grocers around 7:50 p.m. when surveillance footage showed a black Honda CR-V parked across the street from the business.

Nevertheless, Aguilar left and Barrientos dialed 911. He claimed to have witnessed a male with a handgun and had spoken with the operator. According to Barrientos, the believe was wearing dark and had a towel covering his face.

Therefore Barrientos called Carelli, his operator, to call him. The representative was informed that a man had just attempted to shoot him when the gun he was wearing didn’t fire.

Carelli overheard shots as they were arguing. Barrentos ceased to respond. The agent, according to him, heard the sounds of officers and other first firefighters in the background.

According to Carelli, California Highway Patrol officers discovered a burned-out CR-V in North Hollywood a fortnight later. The broker regarded the vehicle as being the one that was captured on surveillance footage of Barrientos ‘ murders driving it.

Urias, who was detained on May 12, claimed to have traveled from Koreatown to South L.A. just before the shooting and that the death order for Barrientos had come” right from the top,” according to Carelli.

Urias claimed that Aguilar called him and another MS-13 part, Grevil Zelaya Santiago, who claimed the agent had located the” child of a whore” in the name of the group.

According to Carelli, Urias and Zelaya claimed to have shot Barrientos dead while driving in the CR-V to South L.A.

Urias and Zelaya’s lawyers didn’t respond to requests for comment right away. Who was Aguilar’s representative was unknown.

All three plaintiffs have entered a not-guilty plea to the murder charge involving extortion.
