One fatality was shot 24 times inside a Las Vegas&nbsp health facility before his malfunctioning rifle caused a large casualty event, according to police on Monday.

The gunman, identified as 34-year-old Daniel Ortega, moving near the entrance of the Las Vegas Athletic Club on Friday night at 1:33 p.m. and approaching a front desk employee, according to the Metropolitan Police Department during a press conference.

Assistant Sheriff Jamie Prosser told investigators that Ortega raised his weapon and began firing after another employee approached him, but Ortega fled when he reached out and escorted him.

According to authorities, he killed a treadmill manager, &nbsp, Edgar Quinonez, and injured three others.

Ortega was identified by Prosser as having more journals loaded with ammunition, but his weapons failed after the 24 shots were fired.

At a Monday presentation, Prosser said,” Happily, this person had a breakdown in his weapons, which really saved this from being a large casualty event.

Police did not give an update on the other patients ‘ conditions, but on Friday authorities reported that two had been taken to University Medical Center. One of the injury was no lethal, while the other was in critical issue. According to police, another made their own approach to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injury.

Ortega worked out at the LVAC and was a part there, according to Prosser, who claimed authorities had not yet determined a purpose.

Police arrived at the scene at 1:19 and shot Ortega four times as he attempted to leave the house, according to the authorities. According to Prosser, he was taken to UMC where he was later declared dead.

According to Prosser, Ortega would have been charged on suspicion of one count of murder with a deadly weapon, three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon on a secured man, and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

Prosser claimed during the press event that Ortega and Quinonez had no ties to one another. She added that Ortega and the people didn’t appear to be in a fight prior to the killing.

She also shared body camera footage from the firing that showed police arriving at the field after Ortega had stopped shooting. According to the video, he was shot as he ran out of the treadmill.

    ” Be kind to all,”

Quinonez and April Dianna, 31, both said they kept in touch centuries before. Dianna had a hard time digesting the dying reports.

Dianna remarked,” He was a wonderful guy.” He was a very talented people and very kind to everyone.

Quinonez, according to Dianna, was born and raised in Las Vegas and is a fan of all things activities.

Quinonez was described as a” very good man” by another buddy Alejandro Perez. He claimed they first met when he assisted in getting a treadmill membership in 2016.

The soldiers who shot the shooter as he ran out of the tower were identified as Kaid Urban, 29, Skeeter Black, 44, and Aaron Javier, 37, of the Bolden Area Command, two days after the shooting.

According to Metro, Javier has been employed with the office since 2016, while Urban has been with the department since 2020, while Black has, since 2016, and so on.
