Donald Trump, the president of the United States, defended his government’s contentious decision to halt enrollment of foreign students at Harvard University on Sunday, doubled down and defended the university’s demographics and financing practices, arguing that American taxpayers shouldn’t be paying a whopping number of foreigners. ” About 31 % of foreigners who attend Harvard are a part of the problem with Harvard,” says one student. Trump remarked,” We give them billions of dollars, which is ridiculous. Trump claimed he had no problem with international students in concept, but that the proportion was too high and harsh to American applicants.” We do grants, we’re probably not going to be doing some grants again to Harvard.” He said,” We have Americans who want to go there but are unable to do so.” He continued,” We want a list of those international students, many of whom will be fine, and I assume with Harvard, many of whom will be bad,” and that” that’s got to stop right away.” Harvard was forced to withdraw from enrollment in February due to national safety concerns and demands that the university release information on immigration holders ‘ “illegal and aggressive activities.” The decision was immediately challenged in court, putting the futures of thousands of students in danger. Harvard reacted by suing the federal government, claiming that it had “arbitrarily and unjustly” acted. The university and its global students were granted temporary relief by a federal judge who soon lifted the decision. Trump wrote,” We want to hear who those international students are, a fair request, since we give Harvard BILLIONS OF DOLLARS, why isn’t Harvard saying that about 31 % of their students are from European Land, a reasonable request.
