New Zealand minister says Indians send her spam emails asking for immigration advice, Indian-origin MP objects
Erica Stanford, a secretary in New Zealand, claimed that Indians had spammed her emails asking for immigration counsel in parliament.

Erica Stanford, the immigration minister in New Zealand, was attacked after she claimed in a legislature that Indians had been smuggling her box with letters asking for advice on immigration. Priyanca Radhakrishnan, an Indian-origin Labour MP, took offense at the notes and called them” careless at best and prejudiced at worst.” Earlier this month, Labour’s Willow-Jean Prime reportedly asked Erica Stanford, a National MP, to affirm that every email sent to or from her personal email account had been recorded for official records. This inquiry was made to her the evening before Stanford claimed she used her personal email account for job purposes, including sending herself pre-Budget presentations for printing-outs. It had no relation to India. The Official Information Act applies to me. In response to the Labour MP’s problem, Stanford said,” I have even made sure that everything is available to be captured and that I have forwarded everything I need to my political email address.” ” I will acknowledge, though, that I receive a lot of unwelcome letters, such as letters from people in an immigration circumstance that are very similar to Kelvin Davis’, which I always respond to. There are those that I nearly consider to be spam, and that is why. However, other ministers have likely experienced pretty related issues.

If you are from India, Priyanca Radhakrishnan messages a message.

Past minister of tribal communities Priyanca Radhakrishnan, who is from Chennai, wrote about this incident on Facebook, outlining how offended she was by the speech. The Immigration Minister felt the need to cast people from one country or ethnicity in a negative light earlier this week in answer to a problem from @willowjeanprime. Don’t trouble emailing her if you’re from India because it’s already deemed email. Radhakrishnan wrote,” So much for the National government’s all-of-government focus on strengthening the relationship between India and, NZ, and people-to-people hyperlinks.” Opinions like these serve to reinforce bad prejudices against an whole population, Radhakrishnan told Indian Weekender. She claimed that she did not mean to email. I responded,” I almost consider those to be comparable to email.”
