After he claimed the bloc worked to speed up negotiations, President Donald Trump hailed his threatened 50 % tariff on the European Union as a” success” on Tuesday.

The president complained that speaks had “nowhere,” in contrast to a deal with the UK and a temporary deal with China, and last week he announced a duvet 50 % tax on all EU goods. Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, and she made a promise to speed up the discussions in exchange for a 90-day pause in new taxes in a phone call on Sunday. Trump claimed that his 50 % tax was integral to the strategy in a Tuesday Truth Social blog.

” I was incredibly pleased with the 50 % tariff allotment on the European Union, especially since they were” slow walking ( to put it mildly )! ( Our discussions with them ), he said. If we are able to reach a deal or are treated badly, then I am entitled to “SET A DEAL” for Trade into the United States.

Trump continued,” I just learned that the E.U. has called to immediately set meet dates.” This is a beneficial event, and I’m optimistic that they will suddenly open up the European Union for business with the United States of America, in line with my demand to China. If they do, they will both be extremely happy and successful! “!

Trump’s recent remarks about the Union are significant departures from his earlier hostility toward the union. He claimed last week that the company was “very difficult to deal with” because of “ridiculous business sanctions” and “unjustified lawsuits against ] American firms.

After making a telephone with von der Leyen, his Truth Social post on Sunday, which stated that it was his “privilege” to give an extension to tariff deadlines, was one of his most encouraging.

AFTER CALL WITH VON DER LEYEN, TRUMP DELAYS 50 % OF THE Fare ON EU.

According to European Commission representative Paula Pinho&nbsp, the call between Trump and von der Leyen on Sunday gave the two factors” a new motivation” to negotiate.

She said,” And we will get it from there.” It’s encouraging to see that there’s commitment from our side and on the amount of the presidents, because we’ve always said we’re ready to make a deal.
