Will be 'difficult' to cooperate if early national poll not held: BNP to Yunus
    Muhammad Yunus

Bangladesh’s top adviser Muhammad Yunus was warned on Tuesday by former prime minister Khaleda Zia’s BNP that it would be “difficult” for the party to remain cooperating with the time government if early elections are not held by December 2025. The warning came weeks after Yunus in a conference with political events, including BNP, rejected their need for an early election by December and stayed in his 2025-June 2026 deadline to maintain the poll, which had been pending since last year as a result of the Sheikh Hasina-headed Awami League government’s fall. At a press conference, BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain reaffirmed that” we demand immediate release of a specific strategy for forming the second congress by December 2025 through a reputable political method.” He claimed that ensuring free and fair elections should continue to be the government’s top priority because it reflects the highest aspirations of the Bangladeshi individuals. Then, Mosharraf said,” BNP may find it challenging to maintain cooperating with this government.”
