In one of the most alarming abuse cases in France, a former physician was given a 20-year prison sentence for sexually assaulting 299 kids. On Friday, the jury delivered its ruling. According to the Morbihan legal prosecutor’s decision, the perpetrator, Jol Le Scouarnec, may offer a minimum of two-thirds of his word before being eligible for discharge. Le Scouarnec is now serving a 15-year prison term for the assault on four kids, including two sisters, in 2020. From 1989 to 2014, a new test in Brittany found rigorous abuse involving 11-year-olds who were primarily hospitalized. 158 kids and 141 ladies made up the victims. After Le Scouarnec was found guilty of child pornography in 2005, advocacy organizations criticized health officials for not intervening. He continued to practice until his 2017 incarceration, keeping his medical license. Le Scouarnec admitted to all charges, including assaulting his daughter, which he revealed to her parents during the test.” More could have been done,” said prosecutor Stéphane Kellenberger.” Things could have been done different, even within the famous layers of European bureaucracy, where responsibilities are frequently passed from one expert to another until, ultimately, responsibility is lost, and hits honest lives.” He was released from a hospital the next year despite being found guilty of possessing child abuse material in 2005. The case’s supporters hope that preventive legal structures may be strengthened. The test coincides with France’s efforts to combat sexual abuse, including those involving the Gisèle Pélicot situation and those looking into reported Catholic school mistreatment. The institution’s response has caused some victims to express disappointment, saying that” the trial, which could have exposed the major shortcomings of our institutions, seems to leave no impression on the government, the medical group, or society as a whole.” Before the prosecution, two patients died by suicide. The doctor abused children in medical areas by using medical treatments to abuse them. Le Scouarnec remained calm throughout the trial, saying,” I didn’t see them as individuals. My fantasies focused on them as their location. As the test progressed, I began to see them as people, with feelings of anger, suffering, and stress. At his house, police discovered a lot of illegal items. Following new claims, including additional abuse of his daughter, a second trial is anticipated.
