Elon Musk to exit US government role after criticising Trump's 'big beautiful bill': 10 things to know

Elon Musk, a billionaire businessman, announced his resignation from his position as a top adviser to US President Donald Trump, ending his brief but well-known tenure as a Special Government Employee (SGE ) tasked with reducing federal bureaucracy.

Musk QUITS Trump’s government following the controversy over the” Big &, Beautiful” tax bill | BREAKING NEWS

Trump’s controversial spending bill and growing criticism of the Department of Government Efficiency ( Doge ), which Musk led, are among the growing Republican differences over Musk’s exit. Elon Musk leaves Donald Trump’s administration after criticizing the president’s “big beautiful bill” ( Musk a day before his announcement ) and also criticizing Donald Trump’s “big beautiful bill” ( Musk a day before his announcement ).

Elon Musk leaves DOGE and makes jokes about liberals “burning my cars”

Elon Musk disappointed by Donald Trump’s” Big Beautiful Bill,” a sign of a strained relationship, as previously stated,” It can either be big or beautiful, not both.”

Here are the ten most important details:

    • Musk declares his return on X:” I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to minimize wasteful spending. A White House national who spoke under the guise confirmed Musk’s resignation from the expert position.
    • Trump’s spending bill is being criticized by Musk after his public comments about the” One Major, Beautiful Bill Act,” which includes significant tax relief and federal spending cuts.
    • Musk said,” I think a costs can be large or it can be wonderful, but not both,” in an interview with CBS. However,” I don’t know if it could be both,” claiming that the budget deficit is being increased by “massive saving bill.”
    • Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI ) supports Musk’s criticism, adding that unless fiscal issues are addressed, there will likely be enough Republican opposition to stall the bill.
    • Trump defends the bill amid criticism: In his response, Trump said,” I’m not happy about some aspects of it, but I’m thrilled by different factors of it… It’s got a way to go,” defending the settlement plan.
    • Doge under flames: Musk claimed Doge had become a “whipping child” due to the president’s failings in a separate interview with The Washington Post. Yet if we had nothing to do with it,” Things bad would happen everywhere, and we would get blamed for it.”
    • Trump makes ideas about Elon Musk’s potential return to business: In a speech in March, President Trump stated that Elon Musk’s state might be in short supply. ” I think he is wonderful, but I even believe he has a sizable business to run, so at some point he will be going up. He desires to. Trump said,” I may preserve him as long as I could keep him. There will come a point when the secretaries will be able to accomplish this work, he added, adding that Doge’s influence will persist even after Musk’s departure.
    • Internal opposition and lofty objectives: Musk attributed Doge’s lackluster success to the deeply rooted federal government, saying,” The federal government position is much worse than I realized.” Musk acknowledged Doge fell little of its targets despite removing tens of thousands of dollars from federal payments.
    • Individual harm and reaction: The political influence of Musk had on his companies. Tesla experienced protests and yet arson attacks. Teslas were being burned by individuals. What justifies doing that? That’s really not cool, he said.
    • Following a tumultuous political saga, Musk returned to private ventures and political flee. He is now focusing on Tesla and SpaceX. He said he would step down from politics after spending around$ 250 million supporting Trump after the Starship design explosion over the Indian Ocean.

Musk claims that Trump’s plan costs “undermines” the DOGE mission.
