A vehicle mare named Shadow, who had been spooked while getting ready for a customer drive, jumped out of his saddle and sped into town traffic near 59th Street before veering back into the park where he collided with a line of parked pedicabs. A second animal joined the fugitive as Shadow’s stress spread. Although neither carriage at the time had any passengers, the high-speed panic left several people injured, including a driver who was apparently kicked in the head, another who was reportedly also received a hand injury.
