Iran has received its first nuclear deal request since negotiations started in April, which comes after a report from the U.N. nuclear watchdog revealed the Middle Eastern nation’s uranium enrichment had drastically increased over a three-month period.

Egyptian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi acknowledged receiving a request from his Omani rival Sayyid Badr as Busaidi, who has been a media liaison between the two nations, on Saturday evening. According to Aghchi, the plan” will be adequately responded to in accordance with the principles, regional interests, and rights of the Iranian people.”

Additionally, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt revealed that Steve Witkoff, President Donald Trump’s special minister to the Middle East, had sent a “detailed and suitable” proposal to Iran, but she would not go into detail about it.

” President Trump has made it clear that Iran cannot ever receive a nuclear weapon. It is in the Egyptian regime’s best interest to accept a thorough and agreeable proposal that Special Envoy Witkoff has sent to them. The administration did not reply on specifics of the request to the media out of regard for the continued agreement, Leavitt said in a statement.

Four officials with close knowledge of the negotiations were cited in a New York Times article who described the document as simply a list of bullet points, not a complete draft, despite the Trump administration’s silence on the details. In particular, it urges Iran to stop all uranium enrichment and suggests creating a regional trust to develop nuclear power that would include Iran, Saudi Arabia, another Arab nations, and the United States, according to the statement.

A new document from the International Atomic Energy Agency revealed a sharp increase in uranium enrichment by Iran, which the Vienna-based organization described as” major problem.”

As of mid-May, Iran had more than 900 pounds of uranium enriched up to 60 %, which is just below the 90 % required to produce weapons, according to the Associated Press. In February, it was previously thought to be really over 605 kg.

Iran is the only non-nuclear-weapons producing for material, according to the IAEA in its statement.

Trump has lately expressed optimism regarding the chances of an Egyptian nuclear deal.

He told investigators in the Oval Office on Friday that he believed the United States had” a chance of making a deal.”

Trump continued,” They don’t want to be blown up.” They had somewhat strike a deal, and I believe that may occur in the near future. If there was a bargain, weapons wouldn’t get dropped all over the Middle East, which would be wonderful. That would be a very beneficial thing.
