I’ll admit that I’ve been fascinated by his family Usha since JD Vance took over as vice president. The Vances not only represent my generation’s first leadership in the executive branch, but their home also strikes me as being very relevant and down to earth. I wrote a report on Usha in February, and at the end of the article, I questioned where her main focus would be for the next four times: did she continue to lead a relatively quiet life with her three very young children, or did she make public looks and/or consider a cause? It appears as though she’s doing a little bit of both right now.  ,

In the past, some have stuck to their private careers, while others have volunteered, written books, or served as a bit of a hostess at the White House, despite my doubts about their expectations. With one or all three children in tow, and with her husband, Usha has traveled the world, both solo and with her husband, and she has accompanied Melania Trump, the first lady, at numerous White House gatherings.  ,

She made a major announcement over the weekend that might give us a little more insight into where her priorities will be over the next four years. The Second Lady Summer Reading Challenge has begun! Along with a letter to children across the United States, Usha posted on social media. It reads:
Dear Future Summer Readers,
Right between the pages of a book, you’ll find adventure, imagination, and discovery! We are excited to invite all K- 8-year-olds to take part in the Second Lady’s Summer Reading Challenge in 2025! Reading 12 books of your choice between June 1 and September 5 is simple to follow along with a reading log. You get one step closer to completing the challenge with each new book you read.
Ask your parents or guardians to let us know after you’ve read 12 books, and we’ll send you a personalized certificate and a small prize. We’ll enter your name into a drawing for the chance to travel with a chaperone to the nation’s capital after you submit your completed form. Conditions and terms apply. If this is the case, I’m willing to support our second lady’s efforts to promote reading and/or literacy while she is in office. Recent research indicates that parents are no longer reading to their children, and that children aren’t reading on their own for fun either. Additionally, according to Fox News, 40 % of students in the United States lack basic literacy.  ,

Although I’m not sure what it’s like now, growing up, my schools had all kinds of summer reading challenges and opportunities, and I adored them. I won everything, including Six Flags tickets and a free pizza. But it wasn’t just about the cash prizes or egotistical accomplishments; I enjoyed reading so much that I tended to end up far overdue every year. I hope that more children will take part in the” Second Lady Summer Reading Challenge,” which encourages them to develop a love for books and enjoy reading for fun.  ,

The first or second ladies will never be covered in a positive light by the fake news media.
