A new agreement between Meta and Anduril Industries may lead to the creation of high-tech extended real helmets that” change how warfighters perceive, feeling, and incorporate field information” for American warfighters.
Anduril Industries announced in a press release on Thursday that it would work with Meta to “design, build, and discipline a range of integrated XR]extended real products that provide warfighters with increased perception and facilitate straightforward control of intelligent platforms on the battlefield.”
The security market firm emphasized that taxpayer funding will not be necessary for the development of the U.S. military’s extended reality systems. The effort, according to Anduril Industries, is intended to” save billions of dollars” by developing high-performance components and systems that were originally designed for business use.
Anduril Industries claims that the extended reality systems may combine Meta’s capabilities for mixed reality into the security company’s Lattice system, which uses an artificial knowledge command and control system to provide soldiers with “real-time field knowledge” based on data from thousands of different sources.
Soldiers will gain intuitive access to Lattice’s analytical capabilities, a valuable source of data for decision-making, by incorporating role-specific AR/VR interfaces into the products, according to the press release. This integration will enable tactical decision-making in combat scenarios by transforming how warfighters perceive, sense, and integrate battlefield information.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg remarked in a statement regarding the partnership between Meta and Anduril Industries, saying,” Meta has spent the last ten years building AI and AR that enable the computing platform of the future.
