Watch: Hungry elephant raids grocery store in Thailand, stuns shopkeeper with surprise visit

A thirsty elephant entered a Thai grocery store and began consuming the treats as he lightly strolled through a nearby national area in search of food. The event was captured and shared on a number of social media platforms. A large female elephant, Plai Biang Lek, made a video appearance in front of a pleasure business close to Khao Yai National Park. He walked into the store, grabbed the treats from his trunk, and went straight to eat them without incident. The elephant was unfazed and unmoved despite park staff ‘ attempts to force him to leave. The elephant didn’t cause any significant harm, aside from leaving wet footsteps on the floor and somewhat deteriorating the roof of the store. He merely exited the store with a case of treats in his trunk.

The store owner, Kamploy Kakaew, was amused by the whole affair as she described her experience with the rhinoceros. She claimed that he consumed about nine luggage of sweet corn crackers, a sandwich, and some dried fruits that she had purchased the day. After getting his meals, he left without hurting someone. The rhinoceros is about 30 years old, according to Danai Sookkanthachat, a voluntary area employee who is familiar with Plai Biang Lek. Lek has recently searched for food in people’s homes, but this was his first appearance at a grocery store. He told The AP,” He went on to start a bathroom window of another house after he left the shop.” Danai claimed that wild animals have been robbing people’s kitchens for many years in the Khao Yai National Park, but he has started seeing them entering obscure locations this year to find food. They have been doing this for several decades. There are nearly 4, 000 wild animals in Thailand as of 2024, according to the Department of National Parks, Wildlife, and Plant Conservation. Animals are being driven out of their shrinking environments in search of food as producers expand agricultural pursuits into forest places, increasing the risk of dangerous contacts with humans.
