“I’m sorry, but I really can’t stand it any longer. This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk wrote on Tuesday. “You know you voted for something, so sorrow on those who did it. You are aware of it.”
He once more stated on Wednesday that a new spending bill may be created to reduce the gap and raise the debt ceiling by 5 trillion dollars.
Musk’s razor-sharp criticism comes from his brief career in the Trump administration, where he was a” special state employee” in charge of the Department of Government Performance. Musk spent months focusing on reducing state waste, efforts he then denies being reversible by the bill he has attacked while serving that position. He has long warned that unchallenged state spending threatens the country’s economic stability and may cause fiscal ruin.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA ), who defended the bill and expressed disappointment in Musk’s remarks, has responded to the backlash.
Johnson told writers,” With all due respect, my companion Elon is terribly wrong about the one huge, beautiful bill.
In light of the discussion I had with him yesterday, Johnson said,” But for him to come up and pan the entire costs, to me is really quite unsatisfactory— very unexpected.”
He continued,” It’s not personal.” I regret to the very least that he made this error.
