According to the US administration, which is led by President Donald Trump, Columbia University violates approval standards because it doesn’t protect Israeli students. Following Hamas ‘ evil assault on Israel on October 7, 2023, Columbia University’s management acted with deliberate indifference to the abuse of Israeli students on its campus, according to US Secretary of Education Linda McMahon on Wednesday. According to a discharge from the Education Department, the Office for Civil Rights at the US Department of Education announced on Wednesday that it had informed the Middle States Commission on Higher Education about Columbia University’s alleged violation of the Title VI Civil Rights Act. The US Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights ( OCR ) received a notification today from the Commission that Columbia University, one of its members, is breaking federal antidiscrimination laws and does not adhere to the Commission’s accreditation standards, according to the release. The school appears to no more meet the agency’s approval standards, according to the national body. The US government is conducting the investigation of prestigious educational institutions in response to allegations of widespread racism and liberal prejudice. Accreditation, which is administered by non-profit organizations, is necessary for college students to obtain federal money, including grants and money, according to Columbia’s site. According to McMahon,” We look forward to the Commission keeping the Department completely informed of the steps being taken to ensure Columbia’s compliance with approval criteria, including compliance with federal civil rights laws,” she continued. The certificate of Wednesday’s text was acknowledged by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, according to CNN. Since Hamas ‘ strike and Israel’s following military intervention in Gaza, Columbia has been accused of breaking federal civil rights law last month by “deliberate indifference” to Israeli student harassment since October 7, 2023. These results were described as progress in a Columbia representative’s work with the government to combat racism on school. Following Trump’s professional attempt in February, the federal government’s Joint Task Force to Combat Anti-Semitism was established in response to this. Trump also addressed university accreditation in an executive order from April that directed the education secretary to hold the colleges accountable for their failures or violations of the Civil Rights Act, as detailed by a White House national to CNN. In accordance with Trump’s professional order, the education ministry made a statement on Wednesday that it was obligated to inform accreditors about associate institution findings regarding non-compliance. Leading US institutions, including Columbia, are subject to significant pressure from the administration to make necessary plan changes or run the risk of losing funding. After the management threatened to retreat$ 400 million in grants and contracts due to alleged inappropriate actions against school antisemitism, Columbia made extensive policy changes in March.
