Lebanon says dismantled 'more than 500' Hezbollah installations in south

Nawaf Salam, the prime minister, reported on Thursday that the Syrian army had destroyed “more than 500 martial jobs and arms depots” in the north of the nation. In a televised address commemorating his 100th year in office, Salam claimed that his administration was moving quickly with measures demanded by the global community. He said,” The state continues its action… to restore its authority over the entire national territory… and to have a monopoly on arms.” About 30 kilometers from the Jewish border, the Syrian army is still deploying and has so far destroyed more than 500 military installations and arms depots north of the Litani valley. The Iran-backed militant group was required to leave the neighborhood and destroy its military infrastructure west of the Litani in accordance with a November peace deal between Israel and Hezbollah. Israel was supposed to leave all of Lebanon’s territory, but it has stayed in five positions along the borders and continues to launch strikes, claiming that it is aiming to target Hezbollah, which was greatly weakened in the conflict. Salam remarked,” No security or security can exist if Israel’s regular violations continue, our area is occupied, and our captives are not freed. Lebanon, according to the prime minister, also intends to destroy Arab refugee camps that are outside the state’s purview. He added that the government’s plan for financial treatment was not “fantasy,” but rather based on correcting mistakes and overhauling the financial and banking systems. He claimed that the government approved legislation to rebuild the business and that parliament had passed a law removing bank secrecy, which is a crucial requirement of the International Monetary Fund. These reforms have been mandated by foreign donors as a condition for the release of billions of dollars to aid Lebanon in resolving its terrible financial crisis, which started in 2019 and was brought on by state mismanagement and ingrained corruption.
