A great Samaritan managed to stop two carjackings in Cobb County, Georgia, in just a few minutes and stop the criminal from fleeing.
The carjackings took place on Monday night in Marietta, Georgia, near the intersection of Delk Road and Franklin Gateway. According to the authorities, 66-year-old Gary Edwards ran to aid the victims in both situations.
” Choosing to engage in a violent situation may be a personal choice, carefully weighed against the hazards involved.” We applaud Edwards for his swift actions, which included safeguarding several neighborhood members, according to a media release from Marietta police on Thursday.
According to police, the presumed carjacker, identified as 32-year-old Rico Riley, was seen walking near an empty Chevrolet parked at a Chevron gas place at around 9 p.m. citing surveillance images and see evidence. The would-be vehicle criminal grabbed her and fought for the keys when the car’s owner made an attempt to enter her vehicle.
She is in the car at one place, and he eventually pulls her up. She pulls him out after he enters the auto,” police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy told Channel 2 Action News.
According to authorities, the conflict lasted for about a minute before Edwards ran away and called 911 from a restaurant across the street.
According to Edwards, who was with his family at the time,” we walked out of the cafe and heard a female screaming.”
After the altercation, Riley reportedly attempted to carjack a Toyota, which was claimed by two people and their 2-year-old. Once more, Edwards intervened and therefore held Riley at gunpoint while officers were waiting, according to the authorities.
According to Edwards,” I took it into my own hands and forced him to leave that car and get on the ground.”
Riley is accused of attempting to steal military weapons, attempting to steal a gun from another person, third-degree child cruelty, and drug possession. Without a relationship, he continues to be held in Cobb County jail.
