Near the Bellagio Fountains on the Las Vegas Strip, two people were shot dead later on Sunday night. According to the New York Times, authorities believe it was a qualified strike in response to a social media debate. Manuel Ruiz, 41, who turned himself in at a police stop in Henderson on Monday, was the suspect’s identity. Ruiz is expected to face charges of two counts of murder with a dangerous weapon, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. At a media briefing, undersheriff Andrew Walsh claimed that the patients and believe “knew each other and had previously engaged in fight over social media prior to the shooting.” He added that the conflict had spread across” a variety of social media platforms,” including Facebook and Twitter. The shooting took place on Las Vegas Boulevard, close to the Bellagio Resort &, Casino, at around 10:40 am native time. When police officials were out patrolling the area at the time noticed two people on the road with gunshot wounds and rushed to the scene. Medical staff at the image administered their death. A person is seen staring into the lens as crowds whizz past him as the tragedy unfolds, which was widely shared online and verified by Storyful. A person makes an intervention, but a second person, who is wearing a helmet and sunglasses, is later seen firing a weapon. In a panic of around seven gunshots are visible in the picture as bystanders flee or fall to the ground. Police described the shooting as an “isolated affair” and asserted that it wasn’t a strange act of violence. According to a declaration from the police, “it is believed that the suspect and the subjects knew one another.” Court documents from Monday morning indicated that Ruiz had no lawful picture, and the Clark County Public Defender’s Office said it was unclear whether or not he had one.
