Gov. Following days of demonstrations and protests against federal immigration efforts in Los Angeles, Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX ) has activated the state’s National Guard troops ahead of a” No Kings” protest in San Antonio on Wednesday evening.
The third-term government made an announcement early on Wednesday that state military troops had been dispatched to various locations throughout the state in case they are needed to halt large, and probably ferocious, demonstrations against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
According to Abbott’s press secretary Andrew Mahaleris, men “are on standby in places where mass rallies are planned.”
In an email on Wednesday, Mahaleris wrote that “peaceful protests are a fundamental component of our country, but Texas does not handle the chaos we have witnessed in Los Angeles.” People who violates the law or causes damage to property will be held immediately accountable to the full extent of the law.

No Kings Day will be observed on Saturday, June 14, at a nationwide, multicity march and opposition, but another event will take place on Wednesday night at Travis Park in San Antonio, the seventh-largest city in the country. The Women’s March and 50501, two organizations that organized the protest in San Antonio, have hailed it as a “rebellion of the MAGA regime.”
According to local media, demonstrations have occurred throughout Texas since last trip, including in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
Abbott’s decision to approve the deployment of forces directly contrasts with the situation in California, where Governor Brown signed a bill to allow for the rollout of troops. As riots broke out in Los Angeles last weekend, Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA ) did not request military assistance.
Otherwise, President Donald Trump ordered National Guard personnel and Marines to patrol the streets of Los Angeles. Trump sued Newsom, alleging that the lawsuit was unfair because it didn’t read with Newsom beforehand.

Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX ), whose district includes San Antonio, claimed that the Trump administration was looking at the entire country in addition to focusing efforts to deport illegal immigrants from Democrat-run states.
” They’re attempting to arrest persons as quickly as they you,” they said. What will happen is it will be across the country, Gonzales told CBS News’ Face the Nation.
