Sin, Shame, and Seeking Grace: Michael Tait’s Public Confession

In the 1990s, religion children were well-versed in two groups: Christian hip-hop icons DC Speak and artists Newsboys. Michael Tait, a song, and the two parties shared a common string. Tait was a founding member of DC Speak and remained with the organization until 2001, when it took a continuous break. He then took up the role of the Wire ‘ lead singer in 2009.

Tait immediately announced that he was leaving Wires in January, but he didn’t explain why. It wasn’t until this quarter that we learned the cause of Tait’s withdrawal.

Journalist Jessica Morris revealed that Tait reportedly had a history of drug-using young men while on journey and fondling them on June 4.

According to Morris,” Three gentlemen contacted [ The Roys Report] and claimed Tait made up friendships with them on Christian music tour in 2004 and 2014″. They were all 22 years old at the time.

Morris continued,” Two men claimed to be drinking beer with Tait and afterwards discovered him fondling” them. ” While traveling with the Wire, one alleged Tait also allegedly offered him heroin. The next informed TRR that Tait had invited him to reveal his king-size bed after giving him a back rub while thin dipping.

Tait had not responded to her ask for a post by Morris ‘ release occasion, but he did so on Tuesday, sharing a lengthy statement on Instagram.

The speech began with the following:

Unfortunately, the majority of my recent reports about my foolish and destructive behavior, including drug and alcohol use and sexual behavior, are unfortunately true. I used and abused cocaine for about 20 years, drank far too much liquor, and occasionally touched people in an unsuitable manner. I make no excuses for my career choices and activities, and I am afraid of them. I’ll just refer to it as what God calls it: sin. I don’t blame anyone or anything but myself. I may dispute some of the information in the charges I’ve made, but I don’t dispute the element of them.

When I immediately quit Wire in January, I sought assistance. I was tired of living a dual life because I was neither actually nor morally unwell. I spent six weeks in a Utah care facility, where I received assistance that might have saved my life from the worst possible loss. Although I also have a lot of work ahead of me, I have been fresh and awake since then.

He compared the final six months of living” a distinct life—one of complete vulnerability and total dependency on a loving and generous God” to his years-long practice of “living two distinctly different life.”

Forgiveness is a topic covered in &nbsp Sunday Thoughts.

Tait acknowledged that he had asked for forgiveness and that he had sought help for his problems:

I have caused so many people harm, and for the rest of my life, I did have to deal with that terrible reality. I can only dream and ask for people pardon because I don’t really need it. Perhaps the thought that God might be the only one who will finally and completely forgive me has come to mind. I still want to apologize to everyone who has hurt me. I certainly apologize. I sincerely pray that the Merciful Healer and Hope-Giver will give all those who have been hurt treatment, forgiveness, and hope.

I acknowledge, deserve, and acknowledge that no matter how much my wicked behaviour has caused someone to lose faith in, respect, or trust in me. However, it irritates me to believe that someone would reject their faith in Jesus or choose not to believe Him because I have shown them that I are a bad example of Him; after all, He is unfortunately the only hope for any of us.

He even made no mistakes or shifts of blame. Instead, he referred to his actions as sin.

Sin is a bad thing because it takes us where we don’t want to go, keeps us there more than we want to be, and costs us more than we want to pay, he wrote. I am committed to carrying out the difficult work of repentance and treatment, which I will do slowly and informally, away from the stage and the limelight.

Tait referred to Psalm 51, which is King David’s appearance and worship of forgiveness, as a conclusion. What CCM Magazine called a “powerful and heart-wrenching speech” was a fitted conclusion.

It’s likely too early to say whether Tait’s occupation is entirely over, but he’s concentrating on wholeness and healing. We may never commit terrible, people sin, but we should strive for repentance and contrition whenever we sin against others. This is a lesson for all of us.

The remaining Newsboys members stated in their affirmation that” Tait’s library, like so many others performers before him, contains music that still stir hearts toward the Gospel.” Even though his actions now rightfully call for modesty, accountability, and a profound repentance, his failures do not nullify that impact.

Pray for Michael Tait. Pray for the patients. Pray for his former colleagues, friends, and relatives. And prayed that we can view our own sins with a sincere apology and a desire to be healed.
