Dr. Moa Ghosh, an Indian-American doctors who admitted guilt to the fraud claims last year, was given a 10-year prison sentence for the$ 2.4 million health scam she committed through her medical company. The 52-year-old submitted false claims to insurance companies for treatments that were not medically necessary, such as ovarian ablations and tests, ultrasounds, treatments, lab blood tests, and testing for sexually transmitted diseases. The exercise went on from 2018 to 2022. In order to obtain higher insurance prices, Gosh inflated the length and complexity of in-office and telehealth visits and submitted says using accounting rules for which the visits did not qualify. Ghosh created fake patient health records to back up his bogus insurance claims. ” When surgeons submit fictitious says to national health care plans, they divert taxpayer-funded resources from those who really need them,” said US Attorney Boutros. Dr. Ghosh’s fraud scheme was particularly severe because she performed unnecessary medical treatments, including those that heavily restricted some people ‘ ability to have children in the future, which endangered the health of her people. We applaud the victims ‘ courage to confront this defendant. Our company will work carefully with our law enforcement partners to protect taxpayer funds and maintain those who steal from the British public account. Dr. Ghosh” spent decades traumatizing patients, lying to insurers, and stealing tax money to fuel her selfishness,” according to FBI SAC DePodesta. The wicked behavior that was exposed in this case is an extraordinary betrayal of trust in patients who were only looking for medical care and integrity. The convicted doctor has been ordered to pay approximately$ 1.5 million in restitution.” The FBI will continue to aggressively pursue and hold accountable any medical professional who seeks to harm people for their personal enrichment.
