A speech from the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 quake quashed Pakistan. The disaster, according to the NCS, occurred late on Thursday at a deep 10km depth, making it vulnerable to aftershocks. In a post on X, NCS said,” EQ of M: 4.6, On: 12/06/2025 20: 02: 04 IST, Lat: 27.18 N, Long: 64.96 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Pakistan” .Shallow earthquakes are generally more dangerous than deep earthquakes. This is because deep earthquakes ‘ seismic waves travel more slowly to the area, which causes more ground shaking, more structural damage, and more casualties. People of Peshawar were also jolted by an earthquake on Wednesday, with tremors measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale, according to Geo News, citing the Seismological Centre. The Hindu Kush mountain range in Afghanistan, at a level of 211 kilometers, was the epicenter of the disaster, according to Geo News. Following the numbness, neither immediate harm nor deaths were reported. This most recent disaster comes nearly a month after a 5.3 % earthquake struck Islamabad and pieces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Mardan, Swat, Nowshera, Swabi, and North Waziristan. According to Geo News, the Hindu Kush region’s centre was located at a level of 230 kilometers and the coordinates were recorded at latitude 36.63 N and latitude 71.13 E. Two more disasters had struck various areas of Pakistan sooner in April. In addition, Geo News reported that roughly 30 small earthquakes have occurred in the terminal city of Karachi in recent days. Aamir Haider, the captain forecaster, stated that the Landhi Fault Line had started to function after years and is currently in the process of normalization. Pakistan is one of the world’s most geologically effective nations, and it is bounded by some big faults. In Pakistan, earthquakes frequently occur and are dangerous as a result. The geological plates of Pakistan and India are overlapping geographically. On the southwestern border of the European dish on the Iranian Mountain, regions of Balochistan, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan are located. On the northwestern border of South Asia’s Indian tray, Jammu and Kashmir provinces are occupied by Pakistan, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. Due to the collision of the two seismic plates, this area is prone to violent disasters.
