Political US Senator Alex Padilla was handcuffed, shoved to the earth, and forcibly removed during Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem‘s press conference in Los Angeles on Thursday. The event, which was captured on video, sparked national outcry and renewed censure of the Trump administration’s immigration assault. The representative from California questioned the current immigration raids that have sparked protests all over the state and the nation after Noem’s celebration was interrupted. Noem claimed that national troops were not retreating but planned to enhance functions to “liberate” the city from its” communist” authority, and hostilities erupted after the statement was made. Sen. Alex Padilla, welcome. As a Secret Service agent grabbed him by the coat and shoved him out of the room, Padilla yelled,” I have issues for the secretary.” In the doorway, there was a fight, and he was seen on his knees before being restrained by some officers and pushed to the ground. ” Control off”! He yelled throughout the confrontation. Later, the Department of Homeland Security defended the officers ‘ activities, claiming Padilla” chose rude political theater” and did not identify himself. However, the picture evidently shows him stating both his name and position. According to DHS, Padilla “was told constantly to back away and never comply,” and soldiers “acted appropriately.” Padilla explained that he was looking for answers about “increasing extreme immigration enforcement actions” after receiving no reply from previous inquiries. If this is how the administration reacts to a legislator who has a question, he said,” I can only think what they are doing to laborers, waiters, and time laborers.” Similar care of a sitting lawmaker was immediately derided by other Democrats. Chuck Schumer, the leader of the Senate, called it “despicable” and remarked,” We need immediate answers to what the hell went on.” Noem after told Fox LA she had a “great” dialogue with Padilla, but she criticized his behavior as unacceptable. Republicans defended Noem, with House Speaker Mike Johnson accusing Padilla of” charging” at her and making the accusation that it was deserving of being condemned. Democrats in Congress are presently requesting an investigation into the event.
