In Nevada, Hindus may place a toran in front of their homes. ( A I image )

A bill that allows Nevada residents to drop religious objects, including Hindu torans and Israeli mezuzah, was signed into law by Governor Joe Lombardo. The Hindu American Foundation ( HAF ) and the Anti-Defamation League ( ADL ) jointly spearheaded the bill. Legislators Julie Pazina, Dina Neal, Edgar Flores, Melanie Scheible, and Lisa Krasner, as well as Assemblymembers Erica P. Roth and Duy Nguyen, introduced the legislation. Spiritual shows may be displayed on homes that are no larger than 12″ by 36″. Additionally, the expenses mandates maintenance personnel to keep spiritual shows in a way that preserves their sanctity. According to HAF managing director Samir Kalra,” This act is a substantial gain for Nevada Hindus because it guarantees people ‘ right to love their houses and everyone who enters them with the screen of a toran,” as their faith requires. On October 1, 2025, the laws may become law. The bill replaces any homeowner associations ( HOA ) or other residential restrictions that might enact such displays, protecting the religious beliefs of Nevada residents. The Hindu toran, a classic decorative item that is frequently hung above doorways, has cultural and religious importance in Hindu homes. It is generally decorated with intricate designs and symbols that promote growth and protect the house and its residents. In a similar way, the Hebrew mezuzah is a little case with a piece of parchment with a certain Torah verse encircled on Israeli homes as a sign of protection and faith. All beliefs societies will be protected by Nevada Senate Bill 201. Providing that people can freely express their beliefs in their homes allows them to openly express their faith on their doorsteps without undue restraints. ADL Desert Regional Director, Jolie Brislin, expressed gratitude for the republican aid the Legislature and to our colleagues at the Hindu American Foundation for supporting this bill.
