Perhaps you can interact with your future toy or sport.

El Segundo plaything manufacturer Mattel, the creator of Barbie and Hot Wheels, announced on Thursday that it is collaborating with OpenAI, the developer of the common robot ChatGPT, to “bring the charm of AI to age-appropriate perform experience.”

The businesses haven’t disclosed what it will be, but they do intend to release their initial item after this year. According to a source with knowledge of the engagement, it will be appropriate for people who are at least 13 years older. Mattel sells products to adults, but the company’s products are also popular with children.

The joint venture between the doll company and a key player in artificial intelligence demonstrates how AI is permeating every aspect of life, including fun.

According to Josh Silverman, key company commander at Mattel,” AI has the power to expand on that goal and broaden the approach of our companies in new and exciting ways,” in a statement. ” Our partnership with OpenAI will help us to draw on new technologies to strengthen our position as an innovator and recreate new forms of play.”

Mattel will have to address issues about data privacy and security that come with selling children’s products that are connected to the most modern technologies.

Working on a doll known as Hello Barbie in 2015, Mattel and the San Francisco company ToyTalk collaborated. The doll had Wi-Fi access to the internet, so she could talk with kids and even make jokes. Additionally, the toy manufacturer released Hello DreamHouse, which activates various rooms in response to speech signals.

Security specialists and private advocates expressed concern about the recording of the voice data needed for the games. They were concerned about data breaches and the possibility that hackers might use the gadgets to communicate with children. Both games were discontinued.

In its reports release, Mattel stated that it will “emphasize security, privacy, and safety in the products and experiences that come to business.”

Mattel likewise produces well-known video game like Apples to Apples and Uno. The game Pictionary vs. AI, which people play, has a sales pitch.

Tech firms are integrating clever eyewear and other products with AI assistants. In May, OpenAI&nbsp announced that it was working with former Apple executive Jony Ive to create new AI items.

Mattel employees also create products using AI. To assist with tasks like product creation, the toy manufacturer is using ChatGPT program.

According to Brad Lightcap, chief operating officer at OpenAI,” Mattel has access to an advanced set of AI features alongside novel tools, and company-wide change at size.”
