The University of California San Francisco medical doctor who was allegedly” singling out” a first-year Jewish student is suing the school, alleging that it violated her First Amendment right was suspended and eventually terminated.
In the course of her responsibilities, officials “infringed her First Amendment right to free speech, both in terms of comments she made as a private member and people.”
She frequently made anti-Israel remarks, but she made headlines last fall when she claimed that some of her students were” concerned” that the student might have been involved in the “genocide of Palestinians” as a result of his participation in her classes.
Following the opinions, Marya was suspended. UCSF Chancellor Sam Hawgood  responded that “targeting any part of our UCSF group — especially in a way that fosters animosity or prejudice — will not be tolerated.”
According to The Jerusalem Post, the complaint “plays heavily on Marya’s identity as a woman, South Asian, Sikh, and person with impairments.”
Marya claimed in a long blog post that her suspension was the result of a” organized” campaign by strong interests, Jewish pro-Israel sponsors, and a “repressive” UCSF management. She just disclosed to Democracy Now that she was fired from her position at the end of next month.
When asked what led to her fire, Marya responded that” all sorts of unpleasant activity happened for the past 20 times as I was promoting the privileges of Palestinians who are facing genocide.”
But, Marya’s lawsuit, which is actually two separate issues, claims that she was only suspended and not fired because of UCSF.
And there might never have been an Israeli scholar in Marya’s entire group.
The petition notes that UCSF data show no first-year Israeli physician student attending the school, according to The Jerusalem Post. However, the lawsuit states that” the fears about the student were honestly fair, despite the possibility that they may have been made up.”

In Marya’s problem, it is questioned whether the whole position had been “manufactured” and details “alleged abuse and other misdeeds by Israelis” at another campuses, including the debunked” dangerous chemical” sprayed on pro-Hamas activists at Columbia University.

Two Jewish staff members at UCSF who spoke with J. at the time of [ Marya’s ] X post claimed they were unaware of any Israeli medical students in their first year. Afterwards, one of them claimed that a mistake may have resulted from a story that was spread among medical students.
Marya admitted to dealing with “horrible risks ]… [death threats, brutal, racist death threats, murder threats” for Democracy Now.
” Solidarity is the only thing we have,” Marya said. It’s our power to combat totalitarianism, authoritarianism, and other forms of racist oppression. I therefore request that all medical professionals in the world show their support for me because our struggle is for the independence of Palestine and our collective independence.
