President Donald Trump described Saturday’s military parade in Washington, D.C., as a “magnificent display” honoring the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.

Addressing the Army and the crowd at Saturday’s military parade, Trump said, “The Army keeps us free, you make us strong, and tonight, you have made all Americans very proud.” The president recognized the Army as the “greatest, fiercest, and bravest fighting force ever to stride the face of this earth.”

“Every other country celebrates their victories. It’s about time America did too,” Trump said. “That’s what we’re doing tonight.”

“As we celebrate tonight, we also think of the hundreds of thousands of Army soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice for our nation and selflessly laid down their lives in every war, from the revolution to the war on terror,” Trump added. “To the Gold Star families with us today, the courage of your heroes is the bedrock on which our entire nation stands. We thank you.”

Emphasizing the legacy of the U.S. Army, Trump claimed that the founding of America’s Army on June 14, 1775, not only changed the course of American history but also the history of the world. Trump added that throughout the history of the U.S. Army, the military service has “forged a legacy of unmatched courage, untold sacrifice, and unequaled and undying glory.”

“Time and again, America’s enemies have learned that if you threaten the American people, our soldiers are coming for you,” Trump stated. “Your defeat will be certain, your demise will be final, and your downfall will be total and complete. Because our soldiers never give up, never surrender, and never, ever quit. They fight, fight, fight, and they win, win, win.”

During Saturday’s military parade, Trump was recorded standing and saluting as almost 7,000 U.S. soldiers marched through the streets of Washington, D.C. The Post Millennial reported that Saturday’s parade included dozens of M1-A1 Abrams tanks, Stryker and Bradley fighting vehicles, and a large number of U.S. Army members dressed in uniforms honoring different time periods throughout the 250 years of the military service’s history.
