In the dead of night, federal prosecutors claim that Vance Boelter ambushed Minnesota politicians and their caregivers in what they call “political assassinations.” Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph Thompson called Boelter’s actions” the things of nightmares,” claiming that he stalked his victims “like prey” before shooting them down “in warm blood.”

Boelter is accused of killing state senator John Hoffman and his family and assailant Democratic state representative Melissa Hortman and her father. Boelter allegedly rang the police and opened fire before being disguised as a cop while wearing a vivid face. Two other lawmakers were targeted, according to officials, but they persisted, possibly by accident rather than design.

Boelter was detained on Monday night near his plantation in Green Isle, Minnesota, and is now facing a number of federal and state charges, including first-degree crime, first-degree murder, and stalking. According to the prosecution, he was driving with several weapon and books containing a list of 45 elected officials ‘ “hit lists.”

More information is available from ABC News&nbsp:

He reportedly took notes and reportedly searched the houses of his victims, according to Thompson. Government seized a list of public officials in north Minneapolis that had a note reading “married Mark 2 kids 11th term” in Melissa Hortman’s title in a search of a home connected to Boelter, according to the affidavit. The affidavit noted that Melissa Hortman’s name was also written in an additional note next to” Big house off golf course 2 ways in from one spot,” which was added in another book.

Thompson outlined the four properties that Boelter reportedly drove early on Saturday.

In Champlin, Minnesota, Boelter allegedly reached Hoffman’s apartment in a dark SUV with an “police” license plate and emergency lights on, according to Thompson.

According to Thompson, Hoffman’s” chilling” security camera footage showed the suspect wearing a “hyper-realistic golden mask,” body weapons, and a dark defensive coat. Boelter reportedly knocked on the front entrance and repeatedly yelled,” This is the police, open the door!” while also carrying a torch and a 9 mm Beretta weapon. Thompson stated.

When Sen. Hoffman and his wife answered the door, the suspect posed as a police officer looking into a shooting and inquired about their arms. However, the few yelled, “You’re not a cop!” According to the prosecution, he forced his way inside and declared,” This is a robbery.” Boelter shot both him and his family when Sen. Hoffman attempted to obstruct him, according to the prosecution. Their child called 911 right away. Boelter allegedly targeted another position representative’s Maple Grove home shortly after 2 a.m., but the senator and her relatives were away on vacation, so he flew.

Second, according to the prosecution, Boelter drove to State Sen. Ann Rest’s home in New Hope and parked outside. After police were called to the Hoffman firing around 2:36 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Rest’s house. The officer immediately assumed Boelter to be a friend officer after seeing him park his car down the street. When she attempted to speak with him, Boelter remained motionless and aimed straight forward. By the time storage arrived, he had slowly vanished. Afterwards, Rest established that she was the intended target.

Officers immediately went to the Hoffmans ‘ home in Brooklyn Park, where his brother senator, former Minnesota House of Representatives Melissa Hortman, was staying.

When two Brooklyn Park officers arrived, they observed Boelter’s SUV, emergency lights flashing, and him standing a few feet from the house’s entrance, according to Thompson.

When Boelter saw the soldiers, he reportedly began firing and allegedly rushed into the home, killing Hortman and her husband, according to Thompson.

Boelter reportedly rushed into the apartment after the Brooklyn Park officers fired at him, but he allegedly escaped and ran out of the house, according to Thompson.

According to court records, after the murders, Boelter reportedly attempted to purchase an e-bike and a Buick in northeast Minneapolis around 7 a.m., went to a lender with a witness, and withdrawed$ 2,200 in cash. He texted his home a few hours afterwards, saying,” Dad went to war last night… I don’t want say more because I don’t want to expose anyone.”

He wrote,” Thoughts are not going to explain how sorry I am for this situation… there’s gonna be some people coming to the home armed and trigger-happy and I don’t want you guys around.” In a separate information to his wife, he wrote:” I don’t want you guys around.”

According to the affidavit, authorities searched Boelter’s sister’s vehicles and discovered two handguns, around$ 10, 000 in money, and passports for her and her kids.
