A group of female athletes filed a lawsuit against the National Collegiate Athletic Association on Thursday, alleging that it allows” transgender” athletes to use women’s locker rooms and compete against them.
The , lawsuit, filed by the Independent Council on Women’s Sports ( ICONS ) on behalf of more than a dozen female athletes, alleges that the NCAA violated Title IX, a federal statute that guarantees equal opportunity for men and women in college sports. It demands that the NCAA withdraw honours given to” lgbt” athletes who competed against people in competitions governed by the business and that biological males be prohibited from competing against female athletes.
” We’re not just fighting for ourselves, we’re fighting for every young girl who dreams of competing in athletics”, Riley Gaines, a traditional adult activist and former NCAA swimmer, said in an ICONS , information release , announcing the complaint.
” I’m thankful for ICONS ‘ responsibility to our produce, especially their fiscal responsibility, allowing us to take this to judge. Someone who cares about preserving children’s sports should help put the past behind them, Gaines said.
The petition highlights an event hosted by the NCAA and Georgia Tech University with Lia Thomas, the” trans” people who competed in the 2022 NCAA swimming tournaments. Additionally, it states that Thomas ‘ decision to play against women is based on the “illegal idea” that “testosterone reduction and individual option alone can make a adult eligible to play on a children’s sports team.”
Additionally, according to the lawsuit, the NCAA’s regulations permit “men to thrive on women’s teams with hormone levels that are five times higher than the highest cortisol levels for aristocracy female athletes ever recorded.”
According to the media release, Bill Bock, the plaintiff’s attorney, was the former United States Anti-Doping Agency general counsel and resigned from the NCAA Committee on Infractions in February over laws allowing people to engage in children’s activities.
The international governing organizations for , cricket,  , track and field , and , swimming , barred biological males from competing in women’s events in 2023.
ICONS and the NCAA did not respond right away to the request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
