A police officer who had been responding to a shooting incident at a nearby company and an illegal immigrant on the terror watchlist was detained in North Carolina last week after being involved in a shooting event there.
According to WAVY Television 10, Awet Hagos, a 32- year- ancient illegal immigrant from Africa, has been charged with three counts of assaulting a government official, three counts of resisting a common officer, and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.
Officers responded to a Quick Stop comfort store, according to The Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald, where Hagos was discovered shooting a weapon. Despite coroner’s deputies using firearms on the American nationwide, the 32-year-old illegal immigrant allegedly attacked law enforcement officers.
In a Facebook post, Gates County Sheriff Ray Campbell stated that” Upon introduction, the delegates and a Trooper with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol attempted to take the assume into custody.” The suspect, however, became very aggressive and once attempted to destroy a deputy with their weapon. After a “four hours long standoff,” Campbell explained that law enforcement officials were suddenly able to apprehend Hagos. According to Campbell, Hagos was taken to the Albermarle District Jail, where he is still held on a$ 100, 000 bond. The deputy added that the illegal immigrant is still being investigated and that more charges could be brought against him.
According to The Daily Wire, U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) has notified the Gates County Sheriff’s Office that Hagos is on the Terrorist Screening Dataset, which is also referred to as the terror watchlist.
According to a report from WAVY TV 10, Hagos is alleged to have relocated from an area in Africa close to the Yemeni borders to live in Haiti. Due to his imprisonment, Hagos is said to have resided in California before moving to North Carolina for about six months.
According to The Daily Wire, ICE officers have requested a detainer from Hagos, suggesting that the Enforcement and Removal Operations section of the agency might be waiting to arrest the 32-year-old illegal refugee.
In a text to President Joe Biden, Lt. Gov. Regarding the reports that Hagos is on the terror watchlist, Mark Robinson (R-N. C. ) requested confirmation. Additionally, Robinson pressed the Trump administration to provide up-to-date information about the most recent event.
