Progressives have voiced growing criticism of Netanyahu and the Israeli government over their continuing conflict with Hamas and the number of dead lost there.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N. Y. ) has officially denied Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request to handle the Senate Democratic Caucus and provide them with information on the development of the Hamas conflict.
A Mr. Schumer spokesperson confirmed the news to the media and claimed the meeting request was turned down because the discussion should n’t be made a partisan issue.
Sen. Schumer made it abundantly clear that he does not believe these conversations should take place in a political fashion. That’s certainly beneficial to Israel”, the director said.
Democrats have voiced growing criticism of Mr. Netanyahu and the Israeli authorities over their continuous fighting against the Hamas criminal organization and the resulting death toll. More than 31, 000 people have been killed so far in the Gaza Strip, according to the Hamas-controlled Gaza health ministry, an estimate that does not differentiate between soldiers and citizens. During the first abuse by Hamas that sparked the fight, more than 1,200 people were killed in Israel, and about 240 were taken prisoner.
Mr. Schumer even addressed inquiries about Mr. Netanyahu on Wednesday, blaming the Jewish head for any holes in the United States’s cooperation with his state.
” When you make these problems partisan, you hurt the cause of Israel”, he said.
On March 20, Republican lawmakers and Mr. Netanyahu had a virtual closed-door meet. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky. ), a leader in the Senate majority, told the media that Mr. Netanyahu gave a presentation about the state of the fight against Hamas and provided answers. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La. ) he stated in a press conference after the conference that he was thinking about inviting Mr. Netanyahu to handle Congress.
Schumer Calls for New Elections in Israel, Criticizes Netanyahu
Mr. Schumer has just become increasingly important of Mr. Netanyahu. Speaking on the Senate floor, he said during a March 14 statement that Mr. Netanyahu had “lost his way” and was one of many “major hurdles” to harmony in the region.
” It is in his heart that Israel’s security is his top priority. I also think that Prime Minister Netanyahu has lost his way by allowing his social success to overshadow Israel’s best interests, according to Mr. Schumer.
Last month, Mr. Schumer even called on Israel to hold fresh elections. He criticized the prime minister for the great human death burden in Gaza and claimed that Mr. Netanyahu was one of a number of lawmakers and organizations putting pressure on efforts to find a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Establishing an independent State of Palestine along with the State of Israel is referred to as a” two-state solution.”
Mr. Netanyahu fired up during a March 17 looks on CNN, calling Mr. Schumer’s demand” completely inappropriate”.
” It’s improper to try to change the elected management in a sister democracy.” The Israeli government does that alone, though. We are not a mango republic”, he said.
” I believe the only state that we should be working on destroying right now is the terrorist dictatorship in Gaza, the Hamas dictatorship that killed over 1, 000 Israelis, including dozens of Americans, and held Americans and Israelis hostage,” according to the statement from the group.
