A Michigan woman’s death is the subject of an improper immigrant’s murder charge after he re-enters the country without permission. He was deported to his native Mexico in 2020.
Brandon Ortiz- Pris, who is currently being held at the Kent County, Michigan, prison is being charged with murder and additional crimes after the body of 25- yr- old Ruby Garcia was discovered on U. S. 131 in city Grand Rapids and identified by investigators.
An Immigration and Customs Enforcement ( ICE ) spokesperson confirmed in a statement to Fox News Digital that Ortiz- Vite was in the country illegally at the time of Garcia’s death.

Ortiz- Vite, 25, “was arrested by Enforcement and Removal Operations ( ERO ) Detroit on Aug. 31, 2020, and served a notice to appear. He was ordered removed by an immigration judge with the Justice Department’s Executive Office of Immigration Review ( EOIR ) Sept. 24, 2020, and was removed to Mexico Sept. 29, 2020”, a spokesperson for ICE told Fox News Digital. Ortiz- Mieux reentered the United States without being examined by an immigration official at an unfamiliar date and location.
” On Mar. Ortiz-Vite was detained by the Michigan State Police and charged with murder and other offences when ERO Detroit encountered him on April 24, 2024, the spokesperson continued. Ortiz-Vite was detained by ERO Detroit and placed on a ejectment at Kent County Jail.
First reported by The Midwesterner, a Michigan media outlet, officials found Garcia’s dying figure near the sidewalks of southbound U. S. 131 and Leonard Street with apparent gunshot wounds around 11: 38 p. m. on Friday.
Although the murder charge has not been fully disclosed, a public information officer for the Michigan Express Police confirmed to Fox News Digital that the costs are likely to be made at a press conference on Tuesday night.

Garcia’s girl, Mavi Garcia, has since established a GoFundMe page to increase cash for Ruby’s death. As of Tuesday afternoon, the fundraiser had received 270 donations and raised more than$ 15, 100, surpassing its original goal of$ 13, 000.
Mavi Garcia, who formerly identified Ortiz- Vite as the believe in her sister’s death in a blog to Facebook earlier this month, stated in a statement to The Midwesterner that her girlfriend was” a wonderful person all around.”
Garcia referred to her sister as” She would light up the room with her beautiful smile and laugh.” She “loved to go, was dedicated to her work, and enjoyed spending time with her family in her completely time.”
” She was a wonderful daughter, sister, uncle and friend. She will be remembered for being full of life and laughing, Garcia continued, noting that those who knew her may be embarrassed and made everyone laugh. ” Her lost has had a significant impact on many people’s lives. Her death was taken too soon. She deserved to live living, travel the world, have children and following her dreams”.

Asked by the channel about Ortiz- Vite’s connection with Ruby, Mavi Garcia said at the moment,” I prefer never to give out details on their marriage. … He is currently in custody. That’s all we know as of right then, and he is/was these fraudulently”.
