A man was shocked to learn his “monster” get broke a status report in Missouri.
But that was n’t the only record he broke.
George Chance, of Festus, discovered March 19 his 97- pound bighead goldfish bass he caught from the Mississippi River was not only a state- report catch, but it had even broken a world record.
” They told me it was a state history, and I said,’ You’ve got to be kidding me,'” he said in an interview with the Missouri Department of Conservation. ” Then afterwards they said,’ It’s not just a state history, it’s a world report!’ and I said,’ You’ve got to be kidding me!’ I had no idea this would happen ( when ) I woke up that morning”.
Chance’s bass, described as a “monster” by express officials, broke the previous mast- and- range state record of 80 pounds. The world history had been 90 lbs.
When he hooked the fish, which he originally thought was a screwdriver, he claimed to be fishing for fish. Chance claimed that he battled the bass for 20 hours before finding a way to bring it back to shore.
” The more it fought, I saw its neck and knew it was some sort of carp”, he told position authorities. ” I was able to use a straw rope to get him out of the water,” he said. It looked to be 50 or 60 lbs at least”.
The bass, of training, proved to be much bigger.
He later discovered that the restrictive fish had produced spring-spawning eggs.
” I chopped up the fish and put it in my backyard”, Chance said. ” I’m going to have it in the form of vegetables and vegetables”.
