In an indictment released on Monday night, the Justice Department ( DOJ) accused a former senior Army officer assigned to U.S. Strategic Command (STRATCOM) of disclosing classified defense information to a woman he met on a foreign dating website. According to the prosecution, David Franklin Slater, who had left the Army as a lieutenant colonel, reportedly sent SECRET-related knowledge between about February and April 2022.

Slater had access to sensitive information regarding Russia’s war against Ukraine while working for STRATCOM, a civil organization that oversees U.S. nuclear forces. He also had a Top Secret security certification.  The person supplying the information made up the identity of a Ukrainian person.

The Daily Caller News Foundation information:

A record of their conversations is included in the indictment, which the girl refers to as her” secret agent” and” secret informant like.”

She often asked him to supply” sensitive, non- people, strongly held and classified” defense information, the DOJ said in a press release. Some of that information was gathered from U.S. sources regarding Russian military functions and military targets related to Russia’s war in Ukraine.

According to American intelligence,” 100 % of Russian forces are now stationed on Ukrainian territory.” Do you believe that this data can be relied upon? the murderer asked on March 7, 2022, the second ask mentioned in the prosecution.

    Some regularly followed.

By the way, you were the first to inform me that NATO members were traveling by train, and only recently ( already evening ) was this information made available on our news. My surprise applicant like is you! How were your discussions? Efficiently”? On March 15, 2022, the murderer texted Slater.

You are my secret agent, as was a third demand for classified data in March. With like”.

In each of the circumstances, Slater provided the requested key details, the prosecution alleges.

” Sweet Dave, the supply of weapons is totally classified, which is fantastic”! the murderer informed Slater on April 12.

Authorities arrested Slater on Saturday, according to a media transfer accompanying the prosecution. Slater was charged with two counts of unauthorised disclosure and one count of conspiracy to release information about the federal defense.

He was set to make his first court appearance on Tuesday, if convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison and fines of up to$ 750, 000, according to the DOJ.
