The Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center, which is suing to halt the legislation, has a staff attorney named Jorge Dominguez. It enables neighborhood police to detain anyone they believe crossed the border improperly. Critics contend that the federal government is the only authority in charge of enforcing immigration laws. Texas contends that the frontier war gives them the authority to address the issue.
