A shocking practice earlier authorization
I recently learned about “prior authorization” when I did n’t receive it for knee surgery until 5: 50 p. m. the day before my surgery. An hour before, the vet’s office had called to say that prior approval had not yet come through, but since my procedure was scheduled for the day, there might still be period.
The vet’s department closed at 5. The telephone call at 5: 50 came to my house, spoken in an accent and at a rate I was hardly know, but I did hear the word “authorized” and that a voice message was left at my doctor’s office. The next day, in talk with that company, I was told no for speech email came through. What a terrible waste of time and money.
Oh, and the well-known peer-to-peer conversation that may call my surgeon and need earlier authorization? It could n’t be set up on United Healthcare’s end.
Call your elected leaders, both state and federal. Before approval needs to be outlawed.
The fact that any person ( shareholder ) or entity ( insurance company ) is allowed to profit from another’s illness or misfortune is morally unconscionable.

Younger kids discover marvels of Embassy equipment
The Fort Wayne Chapter of The National Guild of Organists welcomed the Fort Wayne Chapter of The National Guild of Organists to The Embassy Theatre late. Many thanks to Kelly Updike, CEO, and the Grande Page tissue team.
A number of young keyboard students assisted in the creation of a mini-repair of a pipe organ. They were given a demonstration of the Grande Page before being given the opportunity to test the organ for themselves.
We should never take Fort Wayne’s historic landmarks for granted. The Grande Page Organ and the Embassy Theatre are both nearly 100 years old.
Thank you once more to the staff for allowing these young students to have such a wonderful experience!

Desperate politicians exploit immigration
Nearly all of the politicians running for governor or senator have criticized President Joe Biden for his border policies. They all have a strategy for putting an end to drug use that begins with halting immigration.
Finish the wall, make it higher, says one. Another claims that he went to the border, observed the issue, and suggested solutions to the issue. Apparently, they did n’t work, or he would n’t be carrying on about illegal immigrants today. Another candidate claims that he will use religion to solve such complex issues.
These men talk about this subject in earnest and continue to talk about it. They appear to be unaware that the majority of smuggled drugs enter this country via border crossings and ports of call in vehicles. As candidates for office, they should know this.
Their border histrionics are intended to be exhibited. They are prepared to parrot Donald Trump’s theories and place blame on immigrants and those seeking asylum, but they have no idea what the issue is.
We must not pay attention to these fakes. They are clingy politicians who will say anything to win a position in government.
