In Australia, the amount of solar panel waste is rapidly increasing, with estimates aiming to achieve 280 000 tonnes in a year and 1 million tonnes in ten years.
The Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACP), led by researchers from the University of New South Wales ( NSW), recently discovered that it would be difficult to deal with significant solar PV waste over the next two or three years.
A photovoltaic ( PV ) cell, also called a solar cell, is a nonmechanical device that converts sunlight into electricity. It usually generates one to two watts of power because it serves as the fundamental building block of a PV system.
