For universities, these diploma programs are a large money maker
According to a recent report from a higher learning watchdog group, institutions are earning a lot of money with certificate-granting La applications.
This allows students and professionals to get credentials and ideology to receive La jobs, and spreads the concept as they go into the business, educational or government world to exercise, effectively becoming DEI” commissars”, Legal Insurrection Foundation’s CriticalRace. net job argues.
The nonprofit, which tracks the expansion of DEI and critical race theory, has created a fresh DEI Certificate Programs databases to track the progress of these efforts, which the volunteer describes as “non-academic, non-degree plans that have proliferated as higher education sought to cash in on the post-Georgel Floyd CRT/DE I feeding frenzy.”
Because Cornell has six different certification programs, there is a gap in the number of colleges that the database covers covers. Institutions such as UCLA, Princeton, Vanderbilt, University of Chicago and others are cited on the databases.
Many of these certificate programs are conducted online, the foundation reported:” These certificates, often earned online, allow people to put the names of prestigious schools on their resume when they did n’t actually attend the school, but rather paid for a certificate program displaying its name”.
Cornell rules Professor William Jacobson, mind of Legal Insurrection, told Fox News Digital on March 19 the applications are “essentially training a corps of political commissars on DEI to manage corporations, to penetrate and to improve in corporations”.
Writing on Legal Insurrection, Jacobson stated:” When citizens think about it, they may think about critical race theory as the concept and diversity, equity and inclusion as to how that idea gets implemented. So, diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI, are the action items by which critical race theory is pushed into education and also corporations and government”.
For universities, these diploma programs are a large money maker. Among those schools that list the cost of their programs, CriticalRace.org found that the average cost for the certificate is over $4,000. Northwestern University’s program costs the most at $24,788.
Jacobson noted that overhead costs are low. They’re done online, they can be endlessly repeated – you do n’t need new material for each class.
According to Jacobson,” the universities that do this essentially profit from the George Floyd anti-racism push.”
In the meantime, according to the Fox News article, there has been a significant drop in DEI hiring overall in the economy:
According to data compiled by job site Indeed, DEI-related job postings decreased by 44 % in 2023 as two factors contributed to the decline in DEI at companies. The first is a shift in priorities in the wake of layoffs, and the second is a threat of discrimination lawsuits.
Additionally, according to Fox News, some governors have banned DEI from state higher education and other organizations, such as Ron DeSantis of Florida and Kevin Stitt of Oklahoma. With that, such certificates may not be as economically useful as advertised, and possibly harmful to a resume.
” You may be spending money on a certificate which not only does n’t help you, but might hurt you”, Jacobson told the news outlet. ” Having the certificate may actually be a detriment to your resume,” the statement goes.
