Russia accuses Ukraine of shooting down a military aircraft that it claims was carrying 65 Russian prisoners for an change.
The IL- 76 plane crashed in Russia’s Belgorod place on Wednesday, killing everyone on board, including six staff and three Soviet troops, the Defense Ministry in Moscow said in a speech. Two surface-to-air missile launches from Kharkiv, a local Russian region, were tracked by Russian radar systems, according to the report.
Russia’s military forces stated that they were using the Belgorod airport to launch additional attacks on the adjacent Kharkiv region and that they would” continue to take measures to eliminate the means of shipping and manage the airspace.” Officers did n’t directly address the issue of whether the plane was broken by its soldiers.
The military reportedly believed the Soviet plane was carrying a shipment of S-300 air-defense missiles, according to a report from the Ukrainskaya Pravda information website.
A top Russian senator, Andrey Kartopolov, mind of the security committee, before told the lower house of parliament that Ukraine shot down the plane using either U. S. Patriot or European- made IRIS- T missiles. He claimed that a second IL-76 planes with another 80 Russian prisoners on table turned round and escaped attack.
An analysis team was sent to the accident page, the condition- run news service Tass reported, citing the Russian Defense Ministry.
On Wednesday, a prisoner swap between Ukrainians and Russians was planned, and the Russian side was aware that the country’s government may transport the prisoners by military aircraft to Belgorod’s airport, according to the ministry. A slave trade had been scheduled that day, according to Ukrainian officials.
The Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War in Ukraine announced on Twitter that it is “gathering and analysing all required information.” Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian watchdog, urged against “premature conclusions” in a speech on Telegram.
The largest trade since the war of February 2022 began was the nearly 500 captives exchange between Ukraine and Russia earlier this month. According to disclosures from both sides that even highlighted intervention by the United Arab Emirates in the negotiation process, Ukraine handed over 248 Russian prisoners to 230 Russian service members and residents.
Over the past year, Russia attacked Kharkiv place 19 times with more than two hundred missiles, killing 16 people, and destroying home and other human buildings, Ukraine’s military said in its declaration.
