The Zuid Hollandlaan road in the city center of The Hague was blocked by Extinction Rebellion (XR ) activists, who included Thunberg, who was one of the first to be detained.

The neo-liberal French government has been protesting its democratic weather change policies for months over claims that they have not gone far enough while repressing the end of subsidies for fossil fuels. Extinction Rebellion, an global activist social, is known for its use of destructive tactics like glueing themselves to roads in big European city centers.
Thunberg, who gained national attention in 2018 after skipping university to protests outside the Swedish Parliament, has been detained numerous times at weather demonstrations.

The natural activist was detained last year in London outside of a meeting on oil and gas. A British judge ruled in February that she did not violate the rules by disobeying a police order to stop blocking the conference’s entrance.
Thunberg has also received numerous fines in her local Sweden for obstructing customers.
