The former leader said the state may determine the legality of pregnancy, never the federal government.
On April 8, former president Donald Trump announced that he believes the state may decide the constitutionality of the method, no Congress. He also announced that he had launched a nationwide discussion on abortion legislation.
” My see is, now that we have pregnancy where anyone wanted it from a legal standpoint, the state will decide by ballot or legislation, or maybe both. And whatever they decide must be the rule of the land. In this situation, President Trump remarked in a digital information posted to his Truth Social account that the law of the land is in play.
The response to the former mayor’s remarks was sharp.
Susan B. Anthony Pro- Living America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said her business was “deeply unhappy” with his notes.
The Democrats who are working tirelessly to pass legislation mandating pregnancy throughout all nine months of pregnancy, cede the nationwide debate to the Democrats who are” saying the issue is “back to the says.” If effective, they will clean out says’ right”.
However, President Trump’s two- moment running partner, former Vice President Mike Pence, criticized his notes as” a slap in the face” to his pro- life followers.
Republicans have a winning attitude toward life when they speak the truth out loud and support a tenet that is universally acknowledged: human life begins at notion and must be protected from pregnancy to tomb. I know pro-life Americans will not relent until the sanctity of life is brought back into the forefront of American laws in every condition in this country, regardless of how much our Democratic nominee or additional candidates seek to marginalize the cause of life.
President Trump has pro-life views and backed the right to allow abortions in cases involving murder, adultery, and threats to the life of the mother’s family.
He had suggested in recent months that he might act as a negotiator to help reach a legal cap that supporters on both sides of the debate may help. And as late as March 19, he seemed conducive to a national 15- month limit on the process.
” The number of days now—people are agreeing on 15, and I’m thinking in terms of that”, he told WABC. ” And it’ll come over to something that’s very sensible, but … 15 days seems to be a quantity that people are agreeing at. But I’ll announce that when it’s ideal.
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S. C. ), who backs a federal abortion cap, stated in an interview with The Epoch Times that his position “makes sense if you’re pro-life because pro-life is about the welfare of the unborn child. Nothing in the Dobbs selection prohibits the federal government from passing laws in this regard.
” The pro- living activity has always been about the welfare of the newborn child—not geography”, Mr. Graham said in a blog on X.
President Trump responded to the president’s censure via Truth Social, charging that he was “doing a tremendous harm” to the GOP and America by taking a radical stance on abortion.
However, not all liberal reactions to President Trump’s declaration were bad.
Sen. John Cornyn ( R- Texas ), for instance, told The Epoch Times that he agreed with the previous leader that the problem may be decided by the state.
” As a practical matter, there’s certainly 60 seats for a federal standard, so I think both as a legitimate and a practical matter, this is where that judgement may lie”, Mr. Cornyn said.
And Students for Life Action President Kristan Hawkins, while disagreeing with some aspects of the former president’s stance, chose to accentuate the positives.
She also said she was glad President Trump did n’t back a 15- week limit, which she views as too permissive.
She continued, noting that pro-life organizations” clearly have some work to do” in convincing the former president that abortion is a federal issue.
Your” state lines” should never mark the beginning or end of your human rights.
