Nolte: Gallup Poll Shows Growing Backlash Against Electric Vehicles

According to the most recent poll conducted by Gallup, public support for switching to electric vehicles ( EVs ) has decreased significantly since 2023.

Ordinary citizens are not taken off by this.

” Seven percent of Americans, up from 4 % a year ago, report that they own an electric vehicle”, reports Gallup.

    BUT.

” That increase is matched by a similar decline in the percentage of people who say they are seriously considering buying one, from 12 % to 9 %,” the statement reads.

” Meanwhile, fewer Americans — 35 %, down from 43 % in 2023 — say they might consider buying an EV in the future”, the report adds. ” Once some people have started to sell their EVs in the past year, the public demand for the automobiles has declined.”

And here’s where things get truly unpleasant…

” ]L ] ess than half of adults, 44 %, now say they are either seriously considering or might consider buying an EV… down from 55 % in 2023 [. ]”

Those who never intend to buy an EV jumped from 41 to 48 percent.

Over the course of a single year, this very extraordinary change occurred. Normally, a movement of this dimension occurs over many years, no one.

    But what changed?

Also, the idea of owning an EV is much more interesting than the truth. The Biden administration used the crooked corporate press to put the pedal to the material to create a wagon effect around the EV, primarily as a way to deceive voters from Biden’s sky-high oil prices. For a while, it worked. All gave the EV serious consideration. This increased acquisitions and attention. What is likely to occur from it, between 2023 and 2024, is that individuals began to investigate EVs and learn the truth about how difficult they are to use.

Second, there’s the upfront price to acquire an EV. If you need a fix, repair can be much more expensive. Tires are expensive, and the mass of an EV consumes them more quickly. Lastly, there’s the danger and hardship. You have to rush around for about an hour for your car to demand, then you have to worry whether the charging station is accessible, whether the station is functional, and whether there is a line.

    What is the face?

Personally, I do n’t see it.

If you have the funds, an EV is a good status symbol.

No one will be surprised to learn that another Gallup finding is that those who earn six figures does find EVs more appealing.

An EV might make sense if you have a regular walk that does n’t deviate because you know you’ll be able to plug it back in before the battery runs out.

However, and by design, my life is as routine as it gets, but over the weekends, I had to push seven days to and fro for an appearance on Timcast IRL. Without having to look for a charging station, the push was exhausting much. Without having to wait for a fee, the push was sufficient.

Given that the majority of the electricity used to charge them comes from burning fossil fuels, I do n’t understand why EVs make sense, and I do n’t understand how they benefit the environment.

Since almost everyone who wanted an EV purchased one, the EV revenue growth is waning. I do n’t see the EV becoming popular until it can charge as quickly and conveniently as gassing up.
