” This is yet another promise made by Norfolk Southern to make it ideal for East Palestine’s citizens and those who live there. In March 2023, the organization made commitments to tackle three lengthy- word concerns of residents: having water, home values, and healthcare. The company is going more through this complete settlement—providing more, significant economic relief to individuals, including for healthcare, and to help qualifying nearby businesses continue to rebuild and grow”.

This settlement strengthens Norfolk Southern’s efforts to make it best in East Palestine and the surrounding areas. In addition to this arrangement, Norfolk Southern has made efforts including:

    • $ 104 million &nbsp, in community assistance to East Palestine and the surrounding areas in Ohio and Pennsylvania, including$ 25 million for a regional safety training center,$ 25 million in planned improvements to East Palestine’s city park,$ 21 million in direct payments to residents, and$ 9 million to local first responders,
    • $ 4.3 million &nbsp, to support updates to drinking water system,
    • $ 2 million &nbsp, for group- directed jobs,
    • $ 500, 000&nbsp, award for economic growth, and
