House Speaker Mike Johnson Announces House Will Delay Sending Articles of Impeachment to Senate

The House was scheduled to do this the day before.

House Speaker Mike Johnson ( R- La. ) He may pause by a year the bringing of the senate articles against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas to the Senate.

The House was scheduled to do this the day before.

Sens. Sens. may send the articles to the Senate on April 15. John Kennedy ( R- La. ) and Mike Lee ( R- Utah ).

The House will send the prosecution articles to the Senate the following year to ensure that the Senate has enough time to carry out its constitutional duties. Taylor Haulsee, a spokesman for Johnson, told CNN in a speech on April 9 that there is no justification for the Senate to renounce its authority to hold an impeachment trial.

In February, the House impeached Mr. Mayorkas over a problem at the southeastern border, where thousands of illegal immigrants have crossed since President Joe Biden’s administration took office on January 20, 2021, because of what Republicans claimed he had done.

A whole test must be held in the upper chamber, according to Senate Republicans.

” This is a complete blunder at the southern border. It is a national security crisis”, said Senate Minority Whip John Thune ( R- S. D. ). The Senate needs to hold a test in which lawmakers have the opportunity to examine the evidence and the evidence to arrive at a decision, and there must be accountability.

” The Constitution, Senate laws and law are clear: The Senate has an obligation to voting on articles of impeachment. In the world’s past, there have been 21 cases in which the House has sent articles of impeachment to the Senate. In three of those cases, the official who was impeached had left office, so the Senate did n’t proceed”, wrote Mr. Lee and Sen. Ted Cruz ( R- Texas ) in The Wall Street Journal on April 7.

” In the other 18 cases—including Donald Trump’s subsequent prosecution, which the House delivered after his word ended—the Senate conducted a trial and lawmakers finally voted guilty or no guilty”, they continued. According to the Constitution,” That’s the procedure that’s been clearly defined in the Senate rules.”

The Senate is anticipated to bring up the prosecution. But, the senators, who serve as jurors during prosecution testing, have to at least be sworn in. Senate President Pro Tempore Patty Murray ( D- Wash. ) did rule. Were the test to get tabled, it would be the first time that happened.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N) states,” We are ready to go whenever they are.” Y. ) aired to the media on April 9. We continue to follow our program. We’re going to walk this as quickly as possible”.

Mr. Cruz and Mr. Lee claimed in their Wall Street Journal article that Mr. Schumer wants to bring up the trial’s action by bringing the prosecution issue.

” Why would they do it? Because Mr. Mayorkas refuses to follow the laws, Mr. Schumer wants to stop the House impeachment professionals from presenting information of the disaster that has occurred on the southwestern border. He wants to stay away from media reports about the frontier issue, they wrote.

” He even wants to protect Democrats from having to voting guilty or no guilty”, they continued. Democrats do n’t have to go on the record saying that they do n’t want Mr. Mayorkas to break the law or condone his deeds and failures.

    Progressives have slammed the prosecution.

” Impeachment should never be used to live plan disagreements”, Mr. Schumer told reporters on April 9.

Sen. Joe Manchin ( D- W. Va. ) blasted the impeachment” crazy and stupid”.
