Rep. Michael Cloud, R-Texas, artistically questioned Texas Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas about the authority that Congress had revoked to maintain the frontier and stumbling during a hearing on Wednesday.
Mayorkas testified during a , hearing , of the House Appropriations ‘ homeland security committee titled” Budget Hearing: Governmental Time 2025 Ask for the Department of Homeland Security”. Since taking office, Mayorkas has been questioned by Cloud about whether he lacks the authority and license to secure the U.S.-Mexico borders.
” Was you speak with any government that Congress has removed from you or the leader since taking business”? In response to statements made by President Joe Biden, Cloud questioned Mayorkas about whether he had the authority to stop illegal immigration. Biden said he was “examining” what power he had to shut the frontier during a Univision , interview , that aired Tuesday.
Has Congress revoked any authority from the leader or you since taking company?” Mayorkas stumbling in response to Cloud asking.
” That is a’ yes’ or ‘ nothing’ problem”, Cloud added. ” Why are you filibustering? I asked you a’ yes’ or ‘ nothing’ problem”.
Biden , reversed , numerous , policies , initiated by his father, former President Donald Trump, during his first time in business. Mayorkas has claimed that the border is secure on , several , events, despite U. S. Customs and Border Protection reporting , more than 6.6 million contacts with unlawful immigrants since the start of governmental time 2021.
” You have about a 20 % larger budget than Trump had”, Cloud said. The president has made the case that he ca n’t secure the border because he is waiting on Congress to act, and I just want to make it clear that he has the same authority as President Trump, that he has more resources available than President Trump, and that he has done everything in his power to thwart the security of our border.
