Former NFL running back Orenthal James Simpson, much known as O. J. Simpson, has died after a battle with cancer, his household announced Thursday on social media.
” On April 10th, our parents, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his kids and grandchildren”, an X post on his official accounts said. His family requests that you kindly regard their requests for protection and kindness during this transition.

Simpson, who was 76 at his time of death, achieved regional notoriety after becoming a college basketball star and after playing with the NFL for 11 months, mostly with the Buffalo Bills.  ,
Following the 1994 death of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman, the professional athlete rose to fame. The pair were found stabbed to death outside Nicole’s villas in Brentwood. Following a high-profile test, Simpson was detained and charged with murder, but was afterwards found innocent.

Simpson was detained in Las Vegas and charged with kidnapping and armed assault in 2007. He was released in 2017 after serving a 33-year jail sentence.
