House Speaker Mike Johnson vehemently defended his Christian beliefs and the notion that the United States is morally at war with other cultures when he spoke to the Christian Broadcasting Network.
Johnson noted the often turbulent nature of the Republican Party, pointing out,” Democrats usually tend to think more kind of like a coalition, they sort of stick up, they’re more unified. They move as a flock.  , They’re more style of societal animals”.
” Democrats, by contrast, are tough egoists”, he offered. ” You know, we care deeply about our key guidelines and our beliefs, and we’re not easily moved. And that’s a great gift often, but when you’re trying to keep all those cats up and move in the same direction with a one- voting bulk, it often presents challenges”.
Johnson described the difficulty of facing a unified Democrat Party that holds control of the White House and Senate while Republicans cling awkwardly to a one-vote majority in the House, saying,” What some of my colleagues did personally say, but not always officially, is they understand that we have the biggest problem that’s ever been presented to the Congress. I have essentially no liquidity to discuss and negotiate a better deal. We must show to the British people that we can retain the train on the tracks, but doing so right now is the opposite of what we need to display the country.
He said,” I try to follow all the biblical admonitions as I do every day,” referring to the harsh criticism he has received in the media for his pious Christian faith. One of them declares,” Bless those who persecute you.” A gentle word turns away anger is something I’m getting a lot of practice with at the moment.
” We’ve been mocked and I mean mercilessly in the press”, he asserted. ” They’ve tried to attack me and my community – my wife and children. And appearance, we’re undaunted by it. If you stand for truth, that will occur.
Johnson was questioned by CBN about his” religious battle” view of America.
” I do”, he answered bluntly. ” I mean, if you’re a Christian, that’s how you understand these things. We’re actually at a crossroads of viewpoints right now. Republicans and Democrats are no longer actually engaged in combat. It’s two competing views over what kind of country we are, who we are as a people … remember Marxism, socialism, communism are grounded in the belief that there is no Father, there is no God. And that’s the fact. That’s the bedrock of their belief”.
” That is not who we are”.
