Colorado Activists Say They Have Enough Signatures for Abortion Ballot Measure

Left-leaning Colorado protesters claim they have collected enough signatures to put an pregnancy on the November ballot.

” Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom said its individuals gathered more than 225, 000 signatures and met the city criteria, as well”, CBS News reported. &nbsp,

In order to properly house a measure on the ballot, petitioners may obtain 124, 238 signatures from voters, which may contain 2 percent of total registered voters in each of Colorado’s 35 Senate districts, according to the secretary of state’s office. To move, the measure would need the help of 55 % of voters. &nbsp,

Throughout pregnancy, pregnancy is now permitted in Colorado. The state constitution would inevitably enshrine the right to unrestricted abortion, and it would replace a 1984 law that forbids private insurance from paying for abortions for public employees and those under public insurance. &nbsp,

” The right to pregnancy is now recognized. Government may not deny, inhibit, or discriminate against the practice of that correct, including prohibiting health insurance coverage for pregnancy”, the proposed determine reads. &nbsp,

The announcement comes a week after the Florida Supreme Court approved a similar attempt to make pregnancy a legal right in the state law. Additionally, protesters in Arizona announced they have collected enough signatures to place pregnancy on the November ballot.

The news comes in response to the Arizona Supreme Court’s decision to uphold an 1864 law that forbids almost all abortions and declares it “enforceable” over a 15-week abortion cap that was established in March 2022.

Liberals protest pregnancy until after the Arizona Supreme Court upholds the law as it is intended.

The Arizona Supreme Court’s decision, according to Jess Grennan, campaign chairman for Coloradans for Protecting Reproductive Freedom, “ultimately exposed how resilient every condition is, and may be, without passing legislation that lawfully guarantees the right to pregnancy.”

Statement 89, according to Grennan, is our first line of defense against government overreach and our best tool to safeguard the right to create personal, private medical decisions. This right should never rely on the cause of one’s health plan or who is in company, because a proper without entry is a right in name only, according to Grennan.

A second ballot initiative in Colorado would seek to pass a bill that would “define a child as any living creature from the moment it is born biologically, from conception to the point where it becomes emancipated as an adult” and prohibit anyone from harming a child at any stage of development, including abortion. &nbsp,

Colorado is one of at least dozen states where pro- abortion activists are &nbsp, working&nbsp, to codify the right to kill the unborn.
